Special Needs Basketball Coach Up Your Performance Basketball Irvine, CA Job Details Part-time $25 - $28 an hour 1 hour ago Qualifications CPR Certification Verbal communication (child communication methods) Sports coaching Working with children First Aid Certification Teaching physical education Critical thinking Basketball Full Job Description UYP Basketball is seeking an enthusiastic, patient coach to coach our Special Needs (mild-moderate) program. This position requires a passion for not just teaching basketball fundamentals, but motor skills, processing abilities, problem solving, and teamwork.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan and lead engaging practices focused on skill development, motor skills, and teamwork for a group of players with special needs. Engage a group of three to six players with mild-mod special needs disabilities. Teach basketball fundamentals, drills, and techniques tailored for all beginner level players. Create a positive and encouraging atmosphere that promotes learning, teamwork, and individual growth. Articulate program goals with parents. Communicate effectively with parents and UYP Basketball management regarding schedules, expectations, and progress. When necessary, collaborate with other coaches to align with UYP Basketball's developmental goals and philosophy.
Qualifications:
Knowledge of basketball fundamentals, rules, and strategies. Patience and excellent communication skills. Ability to create an engaging and fun learning environment. Availability for practices during the week. CPR/First Aid certification.
Preferred:
Previous experience coaching or working with youth athletes and/or special needs.
Schedule:
