We serve students in grades 9-12 and have an extensive adult education program. PrintVARSITY COACH
Overview Under general supervision, is responsible for organizing and training the varsity team, arranges for transportation and supervises the team at all games, practices and other activities. The duties of this position involve a wide variety of responsibilities, including supervising the conduct of players and spectators at games, being able to act decisively in emergency situations, and maintaining order in crowds. Major Responsibilities- Ensure compliance with the rules, regulations, and expectations of the
CIF, NCS, DFAL, ACALANES
DISTRICT, School and Athletic Department.- Verify that each athlete has completed and turned in physical examination, insurance coverage, parental consent, and emergency information forms before participation in that sport.
- Supervise the athletes under his/her charge in their use of all facilities including the locker room before and after practice sessions and games.
- Responsible for the care, issuing, collection, storage and inventory of all equipment and uniforms used in his/her program.
- Submit to the Athletic Director a complete, typed, alphabetized roster of all team members along with a full season schedule prior to the first contest.
- Assist in the prevention and care of injuries.
- Participate in the evaluation of game officials in accordance with established procedures.
- Follow the appropriate procedures for budget, purchasing, and transportation.
- Ensure that all school disciplinary policies are followed.
- Read the handbook.
- Coaches are expected to
SET POSITIVE EXAMPLES
for their athletes by following rules, using only appropriate language, showing respect to and for officials, and exhibiting good sportsmanship.- Exemplify standards set by the District for student athletes. Therefore, when coaches are in contact with athletes, they will refrain from using any form of tobacco, alcohol or other controlled substances.
- Provide athletes with pertinent information.
- Act as liaison between the school and parents, Booster Clubs, community organizations and the news media.
- Coordinate any banquets, awards or honors with the Athletic Director.
- Maintain a relationship with athletes based on mutual respect and trust.
- Teach and model the principles of fair play and good sportsmanship.
- Teach fundamental skills, appropriate physical conditions, individual and team strategies and honorable competition.

Sitting or standing for extended periods of time. Light to moderate lifting (up to 50 pounds). Speech, hearing and vision emphasized. Qualifications CIF Coaching Certification (NFHS, ASEP) Child Abuse Reporting Form CIF Code of Conduct Form Anti-Sexual Harassment Awareness Training Form (required annually) CPR Card (required annually) First Aid Certification (required every three years) TB Test (required every four years) California Department of Justice Fingerprint clearance- The Education Code requires that a criminal background check be conducted on all persons prior to employment by a school district to ascertain whether the applicant has been arrested or convicted of any crime.
