Assistant Coach Girls Basketball NOVA Academy Santa Ana, CA Job Details Temporary | Part-time | Seasonal | Contract $17.30 - $19.48 an hour 3 hours ago Qualifications CPR Certification Sports rule interpretation Working with athletes Technical support First Aid Certification Facilities maintenance AED Certification Full Job Description NOVA Academy is looking for a part-time walk-on coach for Girl's Basketball. This position is hourly for approximately 10 hours per week, Monday - Friday. Regular Practices will take place starting in November at the end of the school day. (2:30-4:30 pm) for most of the winter season. Some morning practices, evenings, or weekends may be required. NOVA pays on the 10th and the 25th of each month.
SUMMARY OF WORK PERFORMED
The Head Athletic Coach reports to the Athletic Director or designee and is responsible for coaching the assigned sports program at NOVA Academy. The Head Athletic Coach is responsible for all aspects of the program which may include recruitment, training and/or strength conditioning, athletic practices, games and tournaments, program rules, and the safety and supervision of students. This is a seasonal part-time position based on the needs of the school.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Oversees pre-season and season practices, tournaments, games, and other related athletic activities or events.
  • Conducts tryouts, assesses players' skills; instructs players in the rules, regulations equipment, and techniques of the sport.
  • Prepares and conducts team training and practices, preparation for athletic games.
  • Receives guidance and instruction from the Athletic Director for more general and specific coaching procedures, methods, and techniques.
  • Directs strength and conditioning workouts; provides technical support, feedback and training to athletes, as appropriate to the sport.
  • Attends all athletic games and competitions; provides supervision, direction, and mentorship.
  • Provides information and updates to student-athletes and parents on a regular basis.
  • Maintains athletic equipment, athletic facilities, and player/team records; ensure practice area and equipment is safe.
  • Assists as directed in the recruitment of student-athletes.
  • Assists in monitoring and supporting student-athletes in their academic progress.
  • Utlizes as school vehicle to transport students to and from practices, games, and tournaments.
  • Performs related-tasks as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Knowledge of applicable team or individual sports and playing rules; knowledge of strengthening and conditioning methods and techniques.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to work effectively with student-athletes.
  • May require lifting objects that can weigh up to 50 lbs.
  • Sport-specific online coaching classes if coaching for the first time.
  • Active First Aid/AED/CPR certificate.
