Job Description

SCRA (Stanford Campus Recreation Association) is part of the Stanford Recreational and Wellness program. We are a private club for senior faculty and their families. Facility includes a relaxing clubhouse, locker rooms, and two barbecue areas with patio furniture & picnic tables. Playground set for kids, 25-meter x 25-yard 11-lane lap & recreational pool with a diving board, and a separate baby pool. Seven tennis courts, three of which can be lit for night play. Also, a squash court/hitting wall with the basketball hoop. Swim Coach (Pre-Team Program) Stanford Campus Recreation Association (SCRA) Part-Time | Palo Alto, CA Overview We are seeking an experienced and engaging swim coach to lead and grow our Developmental (Pre-Team) Program , a key bridge between swim lessons and competitive swim team participation. This role is ideal for someone passionate about youth development, stroke technique, and building a strong pipeline into a swim team. In addition to leading developmental groups, this position will also support swim team practices and competitions .
Schedule & Availability Current Developmental Program Schedule:
Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays 4:00 PM - 5:30
PM In-the-water Additional Requirements:
Availability to coach swim team practices on Mondays or any other necessary day from 3:30-7 PM Flexibility to take on additional hours as assigned by the Head Coach Availability for occasional swim meets, team events, and weekend commitments This role is expected to grow in hours as the program expands. Key Responsibilities Lead structured practices focused on stroke development and technique Prepare swimmers for progression into the swim team Coach assigned swim team groups as needed Provide consistent, constructive feedback to athletes Foster a positive, disciplined, and engaging environment Communicate effectively with parents regarding swimmer progress Ensure safety and adherence to all pool policies Assist with swim meets and team operations Collaborate closely with the Head Coach and all aquatics staff Qualifications Competitive swimming background required Experience coaching or teaching youth swimmers preferred Strong understanding of stroke mechanics and swimmer progression Ability to manage groups and maintain structure while keeping practices engaging Strong communication and organizational skills Certifications CPR/AED & First Aid (required or obtained upon hire) Lifeguard Certification (preferred) American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (WSI) (preferred) USA Swimming core coach certifications What We're Looking For We are looking for a coach who can wear multiple hats —developing younger swimmers while also contributing to the broader swim team environment. The ideal candidate is flexible, reliable, and excited to grow with the program.
Pay:
$23.00 - $30.00 per hour
