BLS (CPR, AED, First Aid, Oxygen) active certification only-eligible for hire as Swim Instructor only. Familiar with swim strokes or has a background in Aquatics. Has experience working with children. Able to instruct 4-6 children at one time. Maintains active surveillance of the pool area. Knows and reviews all emergency procedures and responds to emergency situations immediately in accordance with YMCA policies, procedures, and the "safe-in-six" model; completes related reports as required. Responds to challenges with possible solutions in a timely manner. Knows, understands, and consistently applies safety rules, policies, and guidelines for the pool and aquatic area. Maintains accurate records as required by the YMCA and/or the state health department code. Performs equipment checks and ensures appropriate equipment is available as needed. Flexible on weekdays, but must be available to work on weekends. Must be 16 years of age. Required to complete a 350 yard physical competency water test.

Swim instructors at the Scheu Family YMCA are also expected to present themselves in an exemplary manner while maintaining an upbeat, optimistic, and passionate attitude about the YMCA during their shifts.
