JOB TITLE
Head Coach - Boys Middle School Soccer
JOB DESCRIPTION
Addenbrooke Classical Academy is looking for a dynamic servant leader to take the lead in developing and growing our boy's soccer program. It is expected that applicants for the position be willing to support the athletic program purpose: "T o help boys and girls become men and women of empathy and integrity who will lead, be responsible, and change the world for good." This means in addition to teaching the fundamental skills, strategy, and teamwork necessary for athletic success coaches should model and teach character development along with the habits and skills necessary for success later in life. At Addenbrooke, we believe in educating the whole person and our teacher-coaches play a crucial role in supporting our student-athletes growth and development.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
1. Soccer experience required. 2. Coaching experience preferred. 3. Experience working with high school/middle school age children preferred. 4. Outstanding organization and communication skills preferred. 5. Successfully pass the CHSAA coaches test, acquire CHSSA coaching registration and complete a concussion course per State Legislation and CHSAA By-Laws. 6. CPR, AED, and First Aid Certification required. 7. JeffCo District Authorization required (background check and fingerprinting).
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. The head coach reports to the athletic director. 2. The head coach is responsible for supervising assistant coach(es). Also, the head coach is tasked with staffing and leading the middle school team(s) on campus in partnership with the athletic director. 3. The head coach is responsible for coordinating with the athletic director to schedule and plan practices, games, and team events. 4. The head coach is responsible for coordinating transportation with the athletic director for all away games and any practices/team events off campus. 5. The head coach is responsible for holding tryouts and setting the team. 6. The head coach is responsible for communicating with the athletic director, parents, students, the community, and the media. Professionalism and an adherence to the Coaches Code of Conduct is expected in all communication. 7. The head coach is responsible for establishing a culture of excellence on their teams. 8. The head coach is responsible for building positive relationships with student-athletes, parents, and the school community. 9. The head coach is responsible for maintaining a safe environment for all student-athletes under their care. This means compliance with all sports medicine expectations (concussion sit-out, observed lightning, heat exhaustion, etc…), active supervision, and prevention of bullying/hazing activities. Additionally, head coaches should document and communicate with the athletic director any issues related to student safety. 10. The head coach is responsible for checking out and checking back in athletic equipment and uniforms for their team(s). Additionally, coaches are responsible for the proper storage and maintenance of athletic equipment and uniforms in cooperation with the athletic director. 11. The head coach is responsible for communicating with the athletic director equipment needs. Communication should be well in advance of need (two seasons ahead - ex. order in the fall for spring sports). 12. The head coach is responsible for tracking and reporting season statistics, updating school records, and selecting award winners (MVP, Most Improved, Character/Leadership). 13. The head coach is strongly encouraged to develop an offseason program with workouts, summer league competition, team/individual camps, and/or team events to prepare the team for the coming school year. 14. The head coach is responsible for teaching and modeling good sportsmanship and character development. Appropriate behavior towards players, officials, opponents, and spectators should be demonstrated at all times. 15. The head coach is responsible for maintaining compliance with CHSAA bylaws. This includes ensuring students have been cleared to participate with the athletic director. It also includes enforcing academic and behavior expectations of the school. 16. The head coach is required to maintain knowledge and compliance of all district and school policies.
WORKING CONDITIONS
1. Heavy physical lifting (50 lbs - items of various shapes and sizes). 2. Overhead lifting and squatting required on a daily basis. 3. Repetitive motion. 4. Standing, bending and kneeling. 5. Eye/hand coordination. 6. Handling, talking, hearing and near acuity required.
COMPENSATION/ADDITIONAL OPPORTUNITIES
A one time stipend will be offered each season. Teaching positions may be available. Additional coaching opportunities may be available as well.
