Job Description

Head Coach -
Women's Club Soccer Department:
Southern Connecticut State University, Athletics & Recreation SCSU Athletics and Recreation is seeking a Head Coach for the Women's Club Soccer team. The Women's Club Soccer program competes in the NIRSA Region 1 Soccer League against institutions throughout the New Haven region. Reporting to the Associate Director of Athletics and Recreation, the Head Coach is responsible for providing leadership and instruction while fostering a positive and competitive student-athlete experience. The Head Coach will oversee all aspects of team development, including skill instruction, tactical development, practice planning, and game preparation. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills while supporting the mission and values of SCSU Athletics and Recreation. This position is a part-time contractual position for the fall semester with the possibility of additional contract for the spring semester. Position Responsibilities Provide leadership and oversight for all aspects of the Women's Club Soccer program. Plan and implement effective and engaging training sessions focused on skill development, tactical awareness, teamwork, and player growth. Attend and supervise team practices held Mondays and Wednesdays from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Attend and coach up to seven (7) weekend games and tournaments during the fall semester. Promote sportsmanship, professionalism, and a positive team culture. Assist with player development and team organization. Maintain open communication with club sport officers and Athletics & Recreation professional staff. Support adherence to university policies, club sports procedures, and risk management expectations. Qualifications Previous soccer coaching and/or competitive playing experience preferred. Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills. Ability to work effectively with a diverse student population in a welcoming and inclusive environment. Soccer coaching certification preferred. High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Compensation $2,000 - $3,500 stipend, commensurate with experience.
