Job Description

Kingswood Oxford School is seeking a dynamic and experienced Varsity Boys Ice Hockey Head Coach to lead and inspire our student-athletes. The successful candidate will be responsible for the overall organization, coaching, and development of the Boys Ice Hockey program, aligning with the mission statement and core values of Kingswood Oxford School. This individual will play a key role in fostering academic success, character development, and community involvement among our student-athletes while supporting a positive, inclusive, and competitive team culture. Responsibilities Lead all aspects of the Varsity Boys Ice Hockey program, including organization, practice planning, game preparation/management, film review, and skill development. Support the holistic growth of student-athletes in alignment with Kingswood Oxford's mission, prioritizing academic success, character development, social-emotional learning, and community engagement, while reinforcing expectations around attendance, accountability, and full participation. Build and sustain a competitive, supportive, and development-focused team environment that emphasizes teamwork, sportsmanship, and respect, both in-person and in digital spaces. Ensure a safe and well-supervised environment at all practices, games, and team functions, working closely with Athletic Trainers on injury prevention and return-to-play protocols. Collaborate with the Admissions Department and Director of Athletics to actively recruit, evaluate, and retain mission-appropriate student-athletes, while maintaining accurate and up-to-date recruiting information. Partner with the College Advising Office to support student-athletes pursuing collegiate opportunities. Foster strong alignment across the full ice hockey program and maintain clear, consistent, and professional communication with student-athletes, families, and school personnel. Manage all administrative and operational aspects of the program, including roster management, statistics tracking, timely submission of game summaries, use of video analysis tools (e.g., Hudl), attendance at league and NEPSAC meetings, and end-of-season responsibilities such as equipment collection, awards, and program evaluation. Coordinate logistics related to facilities, scheduling, and transportation, while ensuring proper care and inventory of equipment and uniforms. Encourage appropriate off-season development in alignment with school and NEPSAC guidelines and promote multi-sport participation consistent with Kingswood Oxford's educational-based athletics philosophy. Required Experience
  • Proven experience coaching ice hockey at the high school level or equivalent.
  • Strong knowledge of player development, systems, and game strategy.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with student-athletes, families, and colleagues.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
