This role is not about creating elite athletes. It is about giving young children a positive first experience with sport, movement, teamwork, confidence, and listening skills. The right coach must be patient, animated, organized, and able to keep young children engaged in a safe and positive environment. Main ResponsibilitiesCoaching & Session Delivery Deliver age-appropriate sports and movement sessions for preschool children. Lead warm-ups, simple skill games, movement activities, and fun sport-based challenges. Teach basic skills such as running, jumping, throwing, catching, kicking, balancing, and following instructions. Keep every session fun, safe, structured, and development-focused. Adapt activities for different ages, abilities, attention spans, and confidence levels. Make sure every child feels included, encouraged, and successful. Child Engagement Learn and use children's names quickly. Give regular positive reinforcement. Manage behavior calmly and professionally. Keep children active and involved instead of waiting in lines. Use imagination, storytelling, games, and enthusiasm to hold attention. Help children build confidence, coordination, teamwork, and independence. Safety & Supervision Maintain a safe coaching area at all times. Follow school/site rules and Sports4Fun safety procedures. Never leave children unsupervised. Report injuries, incidents, concerns, or behavior issues immediately. Make sure equipment is used safely and appropriately. Follow proper check-in, dismissal, and child protection procedures. Professional Standards Arrive on time and fully prepared for every session. Wear Sports4Fun uniform or approved coaching attire. Communicate professionally with school staff, parents, and Sports4Fun leadership. Represent Sports4Fun positively at every site. Keep sessions organized and avoid chaos. Follow the Sports4Fun coaching structure and curriculum. Attend training sessions and staff meetings when required. Required Skills & Qualities Confident working with children ages 2-5. High energy and enthusiastic personality. Patient, calm, and emotionally controlled. Strong communication skills. Reliable and punctual. Able to lead a group of young children. Comfortable being playful, animated, and engaging. Able to follow lesson plans and safety procedures. Positive attitude and willingness to learn. Professional around school staff and parents. Preferred Experience Experience coaching young children. Experience working in preschools, daycares, camps, schools, or youth programs. Background in sports, physical education, child development, or recreation. First Aid/CPR certification. Experience managing groups of children. Requirements Must pass all required background checks. Must be authorized to work. Must be dependable and available during scheduled preschool program hours. Must be physically able to demonstrate basic movements, set up equipment, and actively coach children. Must follow Sports4Fun child safety and behavior policies. Working Hours Part-time coaching hours, typically during preschool program windows. Common session times may fall between school hours or early afternoon, depending on site schedule. Pay Hourly rate based on experience. What Success Looks Like A successful Preschool Sports Coach will: Keep children safe, active, and smiling. Run sessions that are fun but not chaotic. Build strong relationships with children and school staff. Help children improve confidence, coordination, listening, and teamwork. Arrive prepared and represent Sports4Fun professionally.
