Miami Gardens, FL Job Details 20 hours ago Qualifications Bachelor's degree Full Job Description The Head Women's Volleyball Coach provides leadership, direction, and oversight for Florida Memorial University's women's volleyball program. The Head Coach is responsible for rebuilding and developing a competitive program that reflects the University's commitment to academic success, integrity, and student-athlete development. This position leads all aspects of the program including recruiting, coaching, academic oversight, compliance, and program administration while establishing a culture of discipline, accountability, growth, and competitive progress.
Essential Functions:
Lead and develop a competitive volleyball program focused on growth, retention, and progressive success. Plan, organize, and conduct all practices, competitions, and training sessions. Implement effective game strategies and player development plans. Establish a culture of discipline, accountability, and continuous improvement. Focus on fundamental skill development, team cohesion, and competitive readiness. Develop and execute a strategic recruiting plan targeting high-character, academically prepared student-athletes. Recruit locally and regionally, with the ability to expand nationally as the program grows. Evaluate prospective student-athletes for academic fit, character, and athletic potential. Manage roster development, retention, and student-athlete transitions. Promote academic success, retention, and graduation of student-athletes. Monitor academic progress and enforce accountability standards. Support leadership development, life skills, and personal growth. Create a positive and supportive student-athlete experience. Ensure full compliance with NAIA, conference, and institutional rules and regulations. Promote ethical conduct and maintain institutional control. Participate in compliance education and required reporting. Maintain accurate documentation and program records. Manage daily program operations including scheduling, travel, equipment, and logistics. Assist with budget management and operate within allocated resources. Coordinate with athletic administration, academic services, and sports medicine. Support game day operations and departmental initiatives. Promote the volleyball program through community outreach and engagement. Assist with camps, clinics, and youth development opportunities. Build relationships with local high school and club programs. Represent Florida Memorial University with professionalism and integrity.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Strong leadership and program-building ability. Knowledge of volleyball fundamentals, training, and player development. Ability to recruit and evaluate talent effectively. Understanding of NAIA or NCAA compliance regulations. Ability to mentor, motivate, and develop student-athletes. Strong organizational and communication skills. Commitment to student-athlete welfare, academic success, and personal development. Ability to build a positive and disciplined team culture.
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred (Sports Administration, Education, or related field). 1-3 years of coaching experience at the high school, club, or collegiate level (assistant or head coach). Demonstrated ability to recruit or develop student-athletes. Commitment to academic success and student-athlete development. Evening, weekend, and holiday word required. Travel required for recruiting and competition.
Preferred Qualifications:
Collegiate coaching experience (assistant or head coach). Experience with recruiting at the high school, club, or junior college level. Experience working with diverse student-athlete populations. Knowledge of NAIA or NCAA rules and regulations. Experience in program building or program turnaround environments.
