Job Description

Manhattan University is looking for the next Head Coach of the Cheerleading team. The Cheerleaders are a team which performs regularly at all home men's and women's basketball games, pep rallies, and other large, school-wide events, functions, or athletic events. They also attend NCA in Daytona, Florida. The Head Coach must maintain a safe environment for students to participate. The Head Coach is responsible for the recruitment of students and tryouts, weekly practices, choreography of routines, promoting school spirit, and representing Manhattan University in a positive and professional manner. They are responsible for all coordination and ordering associated with the team, marketing, uniforms, and costumes, along with fundraising required by the group. This is a part-time position. Help oversee all aspects of the cheer program including practices, performances, competitions, travel, social media, and injury prevention Assist in staying on track with budget and works toward generating revenue through fundraising and sponsorship Attend all home games for men's and women's basketball and other appearances as necessary Work in collaboration with the Pep Band and Dance Team coach to ensure a high-level game-day experience Attend all travel functions i.e., MAAC Tournament and Nationals Flexible hours, including weekends, evenings, and holidays, are required Has the ability to organize and supervise a total cheerleading program 1 - 3 years of progressively professional coaching experience, preferably in a college or university setting The head coach must have substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of cheerleading and, at the same time, must continue to examine new and creative ways to improve year over year Excellent oral and written communication skills with sound judgement and decision-making High energy and enthusiasm to work with students to propel them toward success Current driver's license is preferred
