SPECIFICATIONS
Required:
1. High school diploma or equivalent. 2. Valid driver's license. 3. The ability to drive students to competition sites as required.
Desired:
1. CPR and First Aid Certification. 2. Previous experience in Cheerleading as a participant and/or coach or related position.
BASIC FUNCTION
Provides leadership to develop and maintain a high-quality cheer program that promotes school spirit. Supports each participating student in achieving a higher level of skill, an enhanced appreciation for the values of discipline and teamwork, and an increased level of self-esteem.
NOTE:
Assistant coach performs duties that support the head coach. Assigned responsibilities are based on employee expertise, availability, and program objectives. Duties may be reassigned or altered to meet current and emerging organizationalneeds.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Coach and instruct cheerleaders, individually or in groups, regarding the rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques of the sport for events or competition. 2. Assist with meetings for team prospects and encourage student participation. 3. Assist with assessing skills and assigning team positions. 4. Assist with providing proper supervision of students at all times. 5. Assist with supervising approved fundraising projects. 6. Model sportsman-like behavior and maintain appropriate conduct towards cheerleaders, officials, and spectators. 7. Maintain open and ongoing communications with high school administration.
ADDITIONAL ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
(for every DMPS position): 1. Attend work on a prompt and regular basis. 2. Maintain confidentiality. 3. Maintain satisfactory and harmonious working relationships with the public, students, and other employees. 4. Assist with other duties as may be assigned 5. Attend district-wide meetings as requested.
