Job Description

Kenwood Academy is seeking a highly motivated, experienced, and student-centered individual to serve as the Head Varsity Baseball Coach. We are looking for a leader who is committed to developing successful student-athletes both on and off the field while continuing to build a strong and sustainable baseball program. Position Overview The Head Varsity Baseball Coach will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the baseball program, including player development, program culture, community engagement, and long-term program growth. The successful candidate must demonstrate a commitment to mentorship, integrity, and leadership while fostering an environment that promotes academic achievement, athletic excellence, and personal growth. Qualifications Previous high school, collegiate, or equivalent baseball coaching experience. Proven ability to mentor and positively influence young men. Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Demonstrated integrity, professionalism, and commitment to student-athlete development. Ability to build positive relationships with players, families, school staff, and community stakeholders. Commitment to community involvement and representing Kenwood Academy with pride and professionalism. Knowledge of player development, program management, and team culture building. Responsibilities Lead and manage all aspects of the varsity baseball program. Develop student-athletes athletically, academically, and personally. Establish and maintain a culture of discipline, accountability, respect, and excellence. Build and oversee a comprehensive baseball program that includes multiple levels (Varsity, Junior Varsity, and feeder development opportunities). Recruit, train, and supervise assistant coaches. Coordinate offseason development, strength and conditioning, and skill development opportunities. Foster strong relationships with youth baseball organizations and community partners. Communicate effectively with student-athletes, parents, administration, and coaching staff. Ensure compliance with all school, conference, and IHSA regulations. Program Vision Requirement Applicants must submit a written plan outlining: Their vision for the future of Kenwood Academy Baseball. Strategies for building and maintaining a stable, competitive program. A plan for developing multiple levels within the program. Approaches to player retention, recruitment, and community engagement. Short-term and long-term goals for sustained success. Desired Characteristics We are seeking a coach who is: A leader of young men. A positive role model and mentor. Invested in the growth of student-athletes beyond baseball. Committed to building a program that will thrive for years to come. Passionate about developing character, accountability, and excellence. Compensation This is a stipend position through Chicago Public Schools (CPS). Coaches will be paid at the end of the season in accordance with the CPS coaching stipend schedule. Pay:
$7,500.00 - $9,500.00 per year
