Youth Football Head Coach

Summary:

To instruct and lead players based upon program guidelines.

Responsibilities:

A Head Football Coach is needed for the Park District of Highland Park's Youth Travel Football Program for players in 4th-8th grade. The right candidate will develop and implement weekly practice plans, teach necessary fundamentals and develop and implement strategy to various age levels. The candidate must effectively communicate with Park District staff, parents, and players in a positive manner. Model and teach players to honor the game by respecting the rules, opponents, officials, teammates, and one's self. Ensure the safety of all participants during practices and games. Adhere to the coach's code of conduct and coaches manual. Attend all practices and games (numbers and hours are approximate).

Qualifications:

Experience relative to coaching football or working with youth will be required. A minimum of 1 year experience is required based on this level being coached. Must comprehend and be able to effectively communicate with players and parents, the Park District of Highland Park Youth Sports Philosophy and sport specific rules and regulations. Upon hire the candidate will have to get certifications in USA Football and Positive Coaching Alliance.

Classification/Hours:

Part-Time. early August through mid-November. This is a part-time position with 10-15 hours per week. Must have availability on weekends. In late-July and early August teams will practice Monday-Friday in the evening. The first games will be played the weekend of August 22-23. Games will be played on Saturday or Sunday. After opening weekend Weekend teams will practice 3 days per week (Tuesday-Friday) based on player/coach availability. The regular season runs to late October. Teams that qualify for playoffs will continue their season into November.
