Head Boys Track Coach Who We Are:
Waukegan Community Unit School District No. 60 serves nearly 13,000 students in preschool through grade 12 and is located halfway between Chicago, Illinois and Milwaukee, Wisconsin on the shores of Lake Michigan. The District has one early learning center, 15 elementary schools, five middle schools and a high school program divided between two 9 - 12th grade campuses. The District encompasses portions of Waukegan, Beach Park and Park City.

The Waukegan Community Unit School District No. 60 has set an ambitious agenda for change, guided by the belief that all children, regardless of circumstances, can achieve at high levels and academic gaps can and will be eliminated with the support of teachers who deliver engaging, relevant, and academically rigorous instruction that excites students and instills a love of learning in them. The Head Varsity Boys and Girls Track Coach will be directly responsible to the Interim Athletic Director.
Responsibilities :
General Duties:
(1) Supervise and give directions to assistant coaches; (2) Plan and organize total practices; (3) Plan for girls and boys track meets; (4) Plan and organize to host dual triangle, quad, and invitational track meets.
Specific Duties :
(1) Build a positive relationship with booster club, community, teaching staff, coaching staff, student body, and administration; (2) Supervise student athletes; (3) Instill the value of physical fitness in student athletes; (4) Instill the value of social development in student athletes; (5) Instill the value of sportsmanship; (6) Provide adequate instructions for fundamentals; (7) Demonstrate technique and mechanics of fundamentals; (8) Evaluate student athlete techniques and mechanics for fundamentals; (9) Correct flaws and defects in students, tracking techniques and mechanics; (10) Plan strategies for competition; (11) Make adjustments during competition; (12) Cooperate with fellow coaches, officials and school personnel; (13) Instill a value of knowledge and appreciation for the characteristics of the sport.
Qualifications :
Must have valid Illinois Standard Teaching Certificate or have satisfactorily completed a coaches training program approved by the IHSA Board of Director (ASEP).
