Job Description

Join Purdue University Fort Wayne (PFW): PFW is currently seeking an on site Assistant Coach Men's & Women's Track & Field. This position will assist in the development and promotion of a competitive NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Track and Field program, with a focus on the sprints and hurdles event group.
Primary Responsibilities:
Assist in the development and promotion of a competitive NCAA Division I Men's & Women's Track & Field program. Understand, follow and enforce all NCAA bylaws, League regulations, and university academic and other policies and procedures. Assist with the recruitment of quality athletes. Assist with the running of practices and practice content. Monitor the academic progress of student-athletes. Assist with the scheduling of contests and travel arrangements (vehicles, meals, lodging, etc.) Assist with any needed coordination of team technical needs, ordering equipment, uniforms, gear and/or supplies. Serve as an instructor for one HPER course per year for the School of Education, including development of course content, materials, evaluation and assignment of grades Reinforce and uphold team rules, behavior guidelines and expectations consistent with university, NCAA, and Athletic Department policies. Create and foster an environment that promotes the overall health and welfare of student-athletes.
Required Qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree. 2 years work experience at the NCAA Division I, II, or III level, or NAIA coaching experience with a specialty in working with sprints and hurdle event groups. Working knowledge of NCAA DI rules, fundamentals, techniques, and rules of sport. Able to effectively communicate with student-athletes, parents, coaches, media, faculty, staff, students and public. Strong supervisory and public relations skills required along with support of Athletic Department values and principles, and a commitment to fundraising. Able to assist in the assessment of athletic skills and instruct athletes in techniques of sport. Must have a valid driver's license and remain in compliance with the Purdue University Motor Vehicle Records Check policy.
Preferred Qualifications:
A Master's degree. Experience at the Division I Level.
