Job Description
Pre-School / Youth Sports Instructor June - August | 10-25 hours per week | Morning and/or evening shifts (Monday-Friday) Do you bring energy, patience, and creativity to every group of kids you lead-and love making play purposeful? What You'll Do You'll help create fun, safe, and engaging recreational experiences for preschool and youth participants through sports, games, and activities that keep kids active, learning, and excited to come back. Key Responsibilities Lead and supervise age-appropriate sports, games, crafts, and activities following program themes Create and submit simple lesson plans and weekly activity summaries Motivate and engage children while maintaining a safe, structured environment Track attendance, collect program evaluations, and support daily site operations Communicate professionally with coordinators, parents, and fellow staff What You Bring | Education & Experience One or more years of experience in education, recreation, sports, or working with children Ability to connect with children ages 18 months to 14 years Strong communication, organization, and leadership skills Reliable transportation and ability to work until program completion Must be at least 16 years of age Preferred Certifications None required Training provided, including safety, child protection, and program content Technical Skills & Knowledge Ability to follow program plans and document attendance and activities Comfort working in active, outdoor environments Basic written communication skills Why Work for the City of Fort Wayne This is a great opportunity to make a meaningful impact in your community while gaining hands-on experience in youth development, recreation, and leadership.
