Job Description

Jaguar Aquatics Swim Coach USA Swimming Club Team Position Summary This coach leads training sessions, supports athlete development, fosters a positive team culture, and assists with administrative duties to ensure smooth team operations. The position requires strong technical knowledge of stroke development, age-group training principles, and USA Swimming rules and policies. On-Deck (Pool) Responsibilities Athlete Development & Training Plan and lead structured, age-appropriate swim practices aligned with long-term athlete development models. Teach and refine stroke technique across all four competitive strokes, starts, turns, and finishes. Develop aerobic capacity, race pace skills, and foundational strength appropriate for middle school athletes. Implement seasonal training plans provided by or in coordination with the Head Coach. Adapt sets and instructions to meet varying skill levels within the group. Practice Leadership Arrive prepared with written workout plans. Clearly communicate practice objectives and expectations. Maintain active deck presence and engagement throughout practice. Enforce safety protocols and maintain constant athlete supervision. Meets Attend all swim meets with swimmers from your group in attendance. Assist athletes with meet preparation, warm-ups, and race strategy. Provide constructive post-race feedback. Support positive sportsmanship and team culture during competitions. Understand and follow current USA Swimming technical rules Athlete Support & Mentorship Build positive, motivating relationships with swimmers. Promote accountability, teamwork, and personal goal-setting. Identify athletes ready for advancement to senior or higher training groups. Encourage balanced development, including academic responsibility and sportsmanship. Administrative Responsibilities Communication Maintain professional communication with parents and athletes. Respond to emails and messages in a timely manner. Provide regular updates regarding practice schedules, meet entries, and athlete progress via team chat or email. Meet Administration Assist with meet entry preparation and verification as assigned. Submit lineup recommendations to the Head Coach. Help track attendance and competition participation. Ensure athletes are properly registered with USA Swimming. Planning & Coordination Collaborate with Head Coach and staff on seasonal planning. Assist with group placement evaluations and swimmer assessments. Help coordinate team events, clinics, and developmental initiatives. Compliance & Certification Maintain current USA Swimming coach certifications. Adhere to Safe Sport policies and club code of conduct. Record Keeping Track swimmer attendance and progress metrics. Assist with goal-setting documentation and periodic evaluations.
