Job Description

Position Summary Adjunct Faculty positions are temporary, part-time positions hired on an as-needed basis. The adjunct instructor will be responsible for creating a learning environment that assists learners in reaching their professional goals and for providing effective instruction within the framework of workforce and non-credit training. This role focuses on delivering training in quality management and continuous improvement methodologies, including Lean and Six Sigma. The instructor will support workforce development by helping individuals and employer partners improve processes, reduce waste, and drive operational excellence. Major Responsibilities Perform all instructional duties necessary to teach and facilitate learner success in assigned courses Provide course outlines and instructional materials aligned with workforce training objectives Maintain attendance and progress records according to institutional guidelines Submit requested information within established timelines Be available to learners outside scheduled training time for support and coaching Address learner concerns and collaborate with program staff as needed Meet all scheduled classes of contracted course(s) Utilize instructional technologies (e.g., Canvas, PowerPoint, Teams, Excel) as appropriate Notify appropriate personnel in the event of absence Promote a respectful, inclusive, and engaging learning environment Workforce Quality / Six Sigma Training Responsibilities Deliver non-credit courses such as: Lean fundamentals and waste reduction Six Sigma methodologies (with emphasis on Green Belt concepts and above) DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control) process improvement framework Root cause analysis and problem-solving techniques Process mapping and value stream mapping Data collection and analysis for quality improvement Statistical tools and basic data interpretation Continuous improvement culture and change management Facilitate hands-on, project-based learning using real-world business scenarios Guide learners through practical applications of quality tools and methodologies Support employer-based training initiatives and customized process improvement programs Incorporate tools such as Excel for data analysis and reporting Stay current with industry standards and best practices in quality and continuous improvement Support short-term credentialing opportunities and workforce certifications Minimum Qualifications Ability to effectively teach adult learners in an applied, hands-on learning environment Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, operations, or a related field OR equivalent professional experience Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in quality, continuous improvement, or process optimization roles Six Sigma Green Belt certification (or higher) Demonstrated knowledge of Lean and Six Sigma methodologies Strong ability to translate data and process concepts into practical, easy-to-understand instruction Preferred Qualifications Six Sigma Black Belt or Master Black Belt certification Experience teaching or delivering workforce or corporate training Experience leading or participating in process improvement projects Proficiency with data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, Minitab, or similar) Familiarity with manufacturing, healthcare, or service industry applications Work Environment Part-time position. Instruction may occur during daytime, evening, or weekend hours based on program and employer needs. Travel within the local service area may be required.
