Job Description

About the Position Vincennes University (VU) invites applications for a part-time Assistant Coach. This position will assist the Head Coach in the development of student-athletes in all areas, while adhering to all VU and National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) policies and procedures.
Summary of Primary Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist the Head Coach in all areas of the respective intercollegiate program Assist the Head Coach to teach individual skills and strategies; build, develop, and evaluate teamwork; develop and enforce training rules Monitor and support the academic performance, leadership, and progress of student-athletes with an emphasis on retaining student athletes throughout the year Scout and recruit student-athletes who are qualified both academically and athletically for intercollegiate competition Establish, develop, and maintain positive relationships and effective communication with high school coaches and programs In collaboration with the Director of Athletics, work cooperatively with the Athletics Department and Student Activities student leaders and staff Develop collaborative and collegial relationships with other coaches, student leaders, and staff in the department and throughout the campus community Fully participate in athletic activities, including departmental meetings, outreach and fundraising events, and other relevant functions as needed and requested Assist in organizing fundraising activities, in order to enhance and develop athletic programs Understand and comply with the policies and procedures of the college Perform additional tasks as requested by the
Director of Athletics Minimum Qualifications:
Associates degree from a regionally accredited institution OR an equivalent combination of education and experience Coaching experience Current First Aid/CPR certification, or willingness to obtain, if selected Valid unrestricted driver's license Experience working with individuals from diverse academic, age, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds
Desirable Qualifications:
Coaching and/or playing experience at the collegiate level Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and cooperatively with faculty, students, and staff within a campus community; and the ability to foster positive resolutions when conflicts occur Teaching and team-building, related to student-athletes Academic advising, particularly when working with student-athletes Program fundraising and development Ability to use a personal computer, Microsoft Office products, and database programs Fluency in a language other than English Interested applicants should submit a Vincennes University application, cover letter, resume/CV, and full contact information for three professional references.
