Position Summary:
Responsible for assisting the Head Coach in the general leadership of the men's and women's tennis teams. This includes coaching, scheduling practices, travel, fundraising, and recruiting. The employee is expected to conduct all assigned tasks in a manner that supports program compliance with the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA), and Washburn policies, rules, and regulations.

Essential Functions:
Assist with coaching and developing the skills of Washburn Tennis athletes. Assist the Head Coach with practice plans and scheduling, budgeting funds, tournament travel and plans, ordering gear and equipment needed, and anything else to help the program. Responsible for scouting and recruiting quality student athletes to the program, adhering to NCAA, MIAA, and Washburn policies. Monitors individual student athletes' academic progress and works with individual athletes, faculty, and staff to address concerns to help athletes maintain academic achievement and NCAA eligibility. Assist the Head Coach with administrative duties, which may include but are not limited to scheduling competitions with courses and other tournaments, making team travel arrangements, logging Countable Athletically Related Activities (CARA) hours, and assisting Athletics staff to ensure scholarships awarded are in place for the student athletes. Attend conferences and workshops, and research publications, e.g., to stay informed about Washburn, MIAA, and NCAA rules and regulations. Performs additional job-related duties as assigned or as appropriate.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree. Experience coaching and/or participating in tennis. Demonstrated effective interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills. Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record under Washburn's standards.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree. Collegiate participation in tennis. Experience with International Recruiting. Exempt, Full-time, Mon-Fri, Background check and driving history are required.
