Job Description We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Middle School Girls Basketball Coach to join our athletic program and support the development of student-athletes. The Middle School Girls Basketball Coach will be responsible for building a positive, competitive, and developmentally appropriate program that emphasizes skill development, teamwork, discipline, leadership, and sportsmanship. This position offers an exciting opportunity to mentor young athletes, foster a love for the game, and contribute to the overall growth of student character through athletics. Responsibilities Plan, organize, and lead all practices, training sessions, and games for the middle school girls basketball team. Teach fundamental basketball skills including shooting, passing, dribbling, defense, rebounding, and game strategy. Develop practice plans that are structured, engaging, and appropriate for middle school developmental levels. Foster a positive team culture that emphasizes effort, accountability, sportsmanship, and respect for teammates, opponents, and officials. Provide individual skill development and feedback to help student-athletes improve their performance and confidence. Promote teamwork, communication, and leadership both on and off the court. Ensure the safety and well-being of all student-athletes during practices, games, and team activities. Supervise athletes during travel, games, and team events in accordance with school policies. Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding schedules, expectations, and student-athlete development. Collaborate with athletic department staff to align program goals and support the overall mission of the school's athletics program. Model and reinforce academic expectations and ensure student-athletes maintain eligibility requirements. Qualifications Previous coaching experience in basketball (middle school, high school, club, or youth level preferred). Strong knowledge of basketball fundamentals, rules, and game strategy. Ability to teach skills in a clear, age-appropriate, and encouraging manner. Passion for working with middle school-aged student-athletes. Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Commitment to fostering a positive, inclusive, and respectful team culture. Ability to connect with adolescents and serve as a positive role model.
