A sincere interest and enjoyment in working with and teaching youth the principles of this sport as well as the YMCA character development values. Must be knowledgeable in the specific sport. Must be available from 3:45 to 6:30 Tuesday and/or Wednesday
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Arrives 10 minutes prior to class for set up On the first day of class you must introduce yourself to participants and parents. Be available for parents before class each week for parents that may have questions Always take roll and learn the children's names Stretch out at the beginning of class Teach children proper skills needed to play the sport they are learning. Teach it at their age level. Lesson plans will be provided. Use the games approach to make it more fun for the children to learn the proper skills Teach the children about being fair, waiting for their turn in line and keeping their hands to themselves Enforce sportsmanship and de-emphasize winning At the end of every day of the class, huddle everyone together and put a hand in the center. Then yell out the name of the sport that you have been teaching them. Make sure you know where the children are running off to at the end. If they are outside, DO NOT let them run inside to the YMCA without their parent or YMCA staff. If they are inside, DO NOT let them run upstairs without their parent or YMCA staff unless they are 10 years old or older. Make sure every child has a ride home before leaving the site. Must be at least 18 years of age.
PAY RANGE
$13 to $15 per hour
QUALIFICATIONS
To successfully accomplish this job, an individual must be competent in performing each essential duty. The person must be able to take initiative, have strong time management skills and work independently in performing the duties of Youth Sports. The person must have excellent human relation skills and be able to work effectively with staff members, volunteers and the public.
