The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, effective communication skills, a commitment to student-athlete development, and the ability to foster a positive team culture both on and off the field. The Head Softball Coach is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the BCHS Softball Program, including program development, player development, scheduling, organization of the team's finances, and supervision of assistant coaches. The coach must comply with all Louisiana High School Athletic Association (LHSAA) rules and regulations, as well as policies established by the Plaquemines Parish School Board.
Essential Responsibilities:
Promote and develop a positive, student-centered culture within the BCHS Softball Program. Monitor student-athletes' academic progress, attendance, conduct, and eligibility requirements. Coordinate all aspects of the softball program, including offseason development, conditioning, practices, and team activities. Organize and supervise practice sessions that emphasize skill development, teamwork, sportsmanship, and player growth. Evaluate player performance and assign team roles and positions appropriately. Develop game plans and implement strategies that maximize team success and player development. Maintain, inventory, and secure all equipment, uniforms, and facilities associated with the softball program. Manage the softball team's fund in an organized and responsible manner while coordinating fundraising activities to support the program's needs and goals. Conduct a preseason parent/player meeting prior to the start of the season with administration present. Ensure proper procedures are followed in the event of athlete injuries and emergencies. Represent BCHS and the school community in a professional and positive manner at all times. Foster positive relationships with student-athletes, parents, faculty, officials, and community. Model professionalism, integrity, sportsmanship, and nondiscriminatory practices in all activities. Other Duties:
Attend professional development opportunities, coaching clinics, and rules meetings. Support the overall mission and vision of BCHS athletics department. Perform additional duties as assigned by the Principal or Athletic Director. Minimum Qualifications:
At least 2 years of experience as a high school softball coach. Head coach experience preferred. Strong knowledge of softball fundamentals, strategies, rules, and player development. Proven organizational, leadership, and communication skills. Ability to supervise and work collaboratively with assistant coaches and program volunteers. Must meet all PPSB and LHSAA coaching eligibility requirements. Supervision Exercised:
