SEEKING LIFEGUARDS AND SWIM INSTRUCTORS FOR SUMMER 2026

The Cambridge YMCA, located in the heart of Central Square, is looking for enthusiastic and responsible lifeguards and swim instructors to join our busy aquatics department. Team members play an integral role in creating a safe and welcoming atmosphere to swimmers of all ages and skill levels, maintaining a positive and friendly environment for all. Immediately recognize and respond appropriately to any incident or aquatic emergency. Use objective decision making and maintain a calm disposition during all high-pressure interactions or situations. Maintain accurate records as required by the Cambridge YMCA and/or state and local health department regulations. Perform regular facility and equipment checks to ensure safe and effective operation. Notify leadership staff when repair or further maintenance is needed. Enforce all aquatic center rules while maintaining a professional image and manner consistent with the YMCA mission and goals. Notify Aquatic Leadership or other Y Manager on duty in the event of incident or safety concern. Develop and maintain relationships with all YMCA members, program participants, volunteers and team members across all departments. Ensure smooth communication and effective operations across all levels of the organization. Other duties as assigned.

Lifeguard rate:

$20.00•22.00 per hour Summer Lifeguard Rate rate $22.00•24.00 per hour (July and August) Swim Instructor rate: $25.00 per hour

Swim Instructor Shifts Available:

Monday through

Thursday:

1:00pm•4:30pm (Summer Camp), 5:30pm•8:30pm (Youth and Adult Lessons)

Friday:

1:00pm•4:30pm (Summer Camp), 5:00pm•8:00pm (Youth and Adult Lessons)

Weekends:

9:00am•1:30pm (
