Summer Camp Tennis Instructor Overview:
As a Summer Camp Tennis Instructor, you will be responsible for creating an engaging and instructional tennis program for campers. This role combines tennis expertise with the ability to inspire campers of various ages and skill levels, fostering a love for the sport, skill development, and sportsmanship.
Responsibilities:
Curriculum Development:
Design and develop age-appropriate tennis curriculum and lesson plans for campers. Create activities that focus on fundamental tennis skills, strategy, and match play.
Instruction and Demonstration:
Lead tennis sessions, providing clear and enthusiastic instruction. Demonstrate proper tennis techniques and coach campers on improving their skills.
Skill Development:
Organize drills, exercises and games to help campers enhance their tennis abilities. Provide individualized feedback to help campers improve their strokes and overall game..
Equipment Management:
Oversee the care and maintenance of tennis equipment, ensuring it is in good condition. Organize and distribute tennis equipment for daily activities.
Safety Oversight:
Implement and enforce safety protocols during tennis activities. Monitor campers for proper use of equipment and adherence to safety guidelines.
Communication:
Communicate effectively with campers, fellow staff members and leaders. Provide regular updates on tennis activities and curriculum progress to the Camp Directors.
Collaboration:
Integrate tennis activities into the overall camp program.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to actively participate in tennis activities and demonstrate proper techniques. Endurance and physical fitness to engage in outdoor sports.
Qualifications:
College graduate or teacher with 1+ years of experience Strong knowledge of tennis fundamentals, drills, rules, and age-appropriate skill progressions Comfortable adapting instruction for varying skill levels within the same group Enthusiastic, patient, and encouraging teaching style Ability to maintain a safe, positive, and structured learning environment Strong communication skills with campers, counselors, and camp leadership CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain before camp begins) Ability to work outdoors in summer weather conditions
Requirements:
Minimum 21 years of age Valid Standard First Aid and CPR Certification (recommended) Complete a CORI background check Attend all training sessions
Pay:
Seasonal, $18-$23/hr based on experience
