ANNOUNCEMENT OF COACHING VACANCY
Cheer - Head Coach 2026-2027 School Year
QUALIFICATIONS
Previous Cheer coaching experience is desirable. Previous experience in either high school, college or both is desirable. Knowledge of basketball and its rules, and ability to instruct players in all facets of the sport. Evidence of ability to get along with pupils, parents, colleagues and other citizens. Bachelor's degree from an accredited college preferred. DUTIES Coach individual participants in the skills necessary for excellent achievement in the sport involved. Maintain accurate records of squad lists, injury reports, scores of games (report to athletic office and newspapers as requested), incident reports, physical examinations. Be available during the entire school year to lend assistance in guidance and counseling to his/her squad members; i.e. scholastic achievement, college entrance, citizenship. Recommends purchase of equipment, supplies and uniforms as appropriate. Responsible for determining the athlete's academic eligibility. Oversees the safety conditions of the facility of area in which the assigned sport is played at all times that students are present. Make regular check of the safety of all equipment. Enforce discipline and encourage sportsmanship like behavior at all times. These standards are those set down by the headmaster and head coach. Responsible for enforcing the rules set forth by the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association. Assists in the distribution and collection of all uniforms and equipment. Coaches are responsible for equipment not returned by his team members at the designated time. Organize and posts a daily schedule for the team and assistant coaches. Performs all other duties as the principal may deem to be in the best interest of the sport, pupil and school.
Stipend:
$3,834 (Position is contingent on number of students playing) This stipend amount reflects the contractual rate from the 2022-2025 agreement with the Malden Education Association (MEA). Stipend amount may increase pending MEA ratification and Malden School Committee approval of the recommendations of the Joint Labor Management Committee (JLMC) on stipends.
