Nissitissit Middle School (North Middlesex School District) Job Description The North Middlesex School District is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Head Girls Basketball Coach at Nissitissit Middle School (Grades 5-8). The coach will be responsible for leading the girls basketball program, fostering athletic skill development, teamwork, and sportsmanship while ensuring that student-athletes have a positive and inclusive athletic experience. The ideal candidate will provide structured practices, game preparation, and mentorship while supporting the educational and personal growth of student-athletes. Key Responsibilities Program Leadership Develop and lead the girls basketball program for grades 5-8 at NMS. Plan and run structured practices focused on fundamentals, teamwork, conditioning, and skill development. Create a positive and safe environment that emphasizes respect, sportsmanship, confidence, and personal growth. Skill Development & Game Preparation Teach basketball fundamentals including shooting, passing, dribbling, defense, rebounding, and team concepts. Prepare athletes for competition through skill-building, conditioning, and game strategy. Support players at all ability levels to encourage improvement and enjoyment of the game. Mentorship & Athlete Support Serve as a positive role model while teaching responsibility, teamwork, resilience, and leadership. Encourage academic accountability and healthy habits. Build confidence and self-esteem in student-athletes both on and off the court. Games & Competitions Organize game lineups, substitutions, and team strategies. Supervise student-athletes at all practices, games, and team travel events. Model and promote positive sportsmanship at all times. Communication & Collaboration Maintain open communication with parents/guardians and school staff. Collaborate with the Athletic Director and district staff to ensure alignment with district expectations and athletic philosophy. Keep athletes and families informed regarding schedules, expectations, and team updates. Safety & Compliance Ensure all safety protocols and injury-prevention measures are followed. Supervise athletes at all times during practices and competitions. Comply with all North Middlesex School District and MIAA coaching requirements, including: NFHS Concussion in Sports First Aid & CPR Certification

Background Check Qualifications Required Knowledge of basketball fundamentals, rules, and strategies. Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills. Ability to foster a supportive and development-focused environment for student-athletes. Must meet all district coaching requirements. Preferred Previous basketball coaching experience at the middle or high school level. Experience working with middle school-aged students. Playing experience at the high school or collegiate level.
