Reports To:
Wellness Center Director / Aquatics Coordinator Essential Responsibilities Swim InstructionParticipant Support Provide adaptive swim lessons for individuals with disabilities of all ages and skill levels Teach water safety, stroke development, aquatic exercise, and swimming fundamentals Modify instruction techniques to meet individual participant needs and abilities Encourage participant confidence, independence, and skill progression Maintain accurate attendance and participant progress documentation SafetySupervision Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants in and around the pool area Enforce pool rules, emergency procedures, and aquatic safety standards Respond appropriately and efficiently to emergencies or behavioral situations Maintain awareness of participant medical, behavioral, and support needs Program Support Assist with aquatic wellness programs, recreational swim activities, and special events Help prepare and maintain pool equipment and instructional materials Communicate professionally with families, caregivers, and team members Support a positive, welcoming, and inclusive environment for all participants Qualifications Required Minimum 18 years of age Previous swim instruction or aquatic experience preferred Ability to work effectively with individuals with disabilities Strong communication, patience, and interpersonal skills Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality Certifications Required Current CPR/AED Certification Current First Aid Certification Lifeguard Certification a MUST Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and move in and around the pool environment Ability to enter and exit the pool safely and assist participants as needed Ability to lift up to 40 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation Ability to work in a warm, humid aquatic environment Preferred Skills Experience working in adaptive aquatics or therapeutic recreation Knowledge of water safety instruction techniques Experience supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities Positive attitude with a team-oriented mindset
