Job Description

Glenelg Country School (GCS) is an independent day school serving students age 2 - grade 12. Our mission is to cultivate a diverse community of learners who discover, contribute, thrive, and excel. These principles serve as a foundation for all we do. GCS is seeking a Head Varsity Girls Soccer Coach to be responsible for coaching, mentoring, instructing skills and techniques, and building a sense of community within the team, program, and school. The Head Varsity Girls Soccer Coach works in coordination with the Assistant Girls Soccer Coach as well as under the guidance and in coordination with the Co-Directors of Athletics, in achieving the program and school-wide goals. Glenelg Country School currently competes in the competitive IAAM C Conference and is expecting the Head Coach to grow the program for a move up to the B Conference.
Overview of Essential Functions:
Attend all team activities (games, practices, gatherings, meetings). Organize the supervision of transportation to and from games by at least one member of the coaching staff. Maintain minimum biweekly email communication with players and families sent by a member of the coaching staff during the season -attend all required athletic department or league meetings. Responsible for all athletes, equipment, and facilities used while coaching. Report game results to the Athletic Department as well as respond to emails within 24 hours when in season. Attend all required athletic department or league meetings. Support the retention and attraction of student athletes to the school.
Desired Education and Experience:
Previous High School, Club Level, or College Level coaching and/or playing experience is required.
Key Skills and Attributes:
Interested individuals should possess: Knowledge of soccer techniques and game strategy. Good verbal and written communication skills. Leadership skills as the leader of the team. Ability to collaborate with coaching staff. Good problem solving skills. Good driving record and ability to drive a school minibus.
Physical Demands:
Standing for long periods of time. Riding a school bus long periods of time. Drive a minibus. Must be able to carry 25 pounds.
Compensation Range:
The compensation range for this position is $4,500 - $5,500 per season. This position does not have benefits associated with it due to the part-time nature.
