The Bath Area Family YMCA is looking for enthusiastic Youth Street Hockey Instructors to help lead our growing NHL Street and youth hockey programming! This position is perfect for someone who may not have played high-level hockey but understands the basics, can stay energetic and encouraging, and knows how to make kids excited to participate. We're looking for role models who can create a positive atmosphere where kids feel included, active, and confident while learning the game. Our street hockey programs focus on movement, teamwork, skill development, sportsmanship, and FUN. Many participants are brand new to hockey, making this a great opportunity for someone who enjoys teaching fundamentals through games, creativity, and high-energy activities.
What You'll Do:
Lead and assist with youth street hockey clinics and classes Teach passing, shooting, stickhandling, teamwork, and game basics Run fun drills, games, and activities that keep kids constantly moving Create a safe, welcoming, and encouraging environment Set up and break down equipment before and after classes Communicate positively with parents, participants, and YMCA staff Help reinforce YMCA core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility Who Would Be a
Great Fit:
Future teachers, coaches, recreation staff, or camp counselors College or high school students with strong leadership skills Former athletes who enjoy working with kids Individuals with high energy and a positive attitude People who can manage "organized chaos" with patience and enthusiasm You do NOT need elite hockey experience to be successful in this role. If you can connect with kids, create excitement, and help participants build confidence while staying active, we want to hear from you.
QUALIFICATIONS
Ability to work with parents and children from 3 -11 years old. Able to effectively communicate with parents and staff. Certified in First Aid and CPR (training available on site) Excellent written and oral communication skills. High attention to detail. Knowledgeable about Y processes and procedures. Ability to work with integrity, discretion, and a professional approach.
