POSITION SUMMARY
Reports to Head Cheer and STUNT Coach The Head Spirit Squad Coach is responsible for the supervision, operation, and development of the Spirit Squad cheer program. Responsibilities include coaching, recruiting qualified student-athletes, fundraising, hiring and supervising assistant coaches, developing practice schedules, managing budgets, building community support, and monitoring student-athlete academic progress. This role also assists the Head Cheer & STUNT Coach with the intercollegiate NCA Competitive Cheer program, including coaching, recruiting, fundraising, camps, scheduling, budget oversight, community engagement, academic monitoring, and ensuring compliance with applicable USA Cheer rules. This is a full-time position.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Duties include, but are not limited to: Coach the Spirit Squad (football and basketball sideline teams) Oversee all aspects of the Spirit Squad program, including practices and home football/basketball game performances Assist with recruiting efforts and evaluation of qualified student-athletes Develop and implement fundraising initiatives to support the program Assist with selection and coaching of NCA competitive cheer teams Monitor student-athletes' academic schedules, grades, and overall progress Promote and model good sportsmanship and enforce appropriate team behavior Assist athletic administration with alumni relations initiatives Ensure compliance with all College, team, NCAA Division III, and USA Cheer rules and regulations Collaborate with athletic department staff, attend meetings and events, and positively represent Alma College in all community, media, and recruiting interactions Support the mission and philosophy of Alma College and the athletic department Foster student-athlete development as engaged members of the campus and broader community Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Cheer and STUNT Coach or Athletic Director
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree required Collegiate-level playing and/or coaching experience Knowledge of NCAA Division III, STUNT, and NCA rules and structure, and understanding of Division III student-athlete philosophy Ability to work evenings, weekends, and travel as required Valid driver's license with a clean driving record Ability to perform all essential job functions Alma College is classified as a selective
