The volleyball coach is directly accountable to the Athletic Director. He/she is responsible for the behavior and performance of the volleyball team members. The volleyball coach instructs the team about the various ways and means of enhancing their performance and advising them to play better every single time. In fulfilling their duties and responsibilities, all coaches are expected to do the following with their teams/players: Treat his/her players and opponents with respect Assume responsibility for the conduct of their team and players during all athletic events Alert all athletes to the risks inherent in the sport and to the proper use of equipment and techniques common to the sport Establish a positive relationship with coaches, athletes, parents, officials, and community members Basic Requirements include but are not limited to: Be a role model Teach and cultivate student-athletes Develop well-planned, organized and well-executed practice plans that build skills, promote understanding of offensive and defensive strategy, and endorse teamwork and team chemistry Treat all athletes with dignity and respect Use athletics as an opportunity for teaching positive life lessons Build confidence, encourage, and affirm Exhibit clear, direct and open communication Possess a sense of humor Demonstrate contemporary knowledge of the sport and an ability to cultivate new skills with students through drills, sequenced plays and encouragement on and off the field/court Establish clear expectations and consequences; deliver criticism in a manner that upholds the dignity of each athlete while maintaining high expectations Uphold clear boundaries for behavior and enforce rules consistently Be lifelong learners, willing to innovate for the benefit of their student-athletes Work alongside the Head Varsity Volleyball Coach The successful candidate will enjoy working and educating student-athletes. A clear commitment to the educational philosophy of Sacred Heart Schools is essential.

Punctuality and dependability Experience and knowledge of the rules, regulations, strategies, and techniques of the game of volleyball Possess effective coaching techniques and skills Be a positive role model for student-athletes Good communication and interpersonal skills Fosters ethics, good conduct, and sportsmanship for all participants and coaches Outstanding organizational and leadership skills Competent in problem-solving, team building, planning and decision making Adherence to all personnel policies, procedures and rules contained in the ASH Handbook and ASH Athletic Handbook Coaching Requirements (prior to the first day with students) Attend Protecting God's Children training Criminal justice fingerprint clearance Trained in and possess valid cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and First Aid clearance Complete the Concussion Training, Allergy Training, and the Health Precautions Training The School Network Academy of the Sacred Heart is one of 25 schools in the U.S. and Canada Network of Sacred Heart Schools and is affiliated with a network of over 200 Sacred Heart schools worldwide.
