Contract- renewable at the discretion of the Athletic Director Position Summary Under the general supervision of the High School Head Coach and Athletic Director/Assistant Athletic Director, the Sub-Varsity Coach is responsible for performing coaching functions for their designated sport.
EDUCATION
This position requires a high school diploma or general education degree (G.E.D.). Additional coursework or a Bachelor's Degree in Education is preferredEXPERIENCE
Successful coaching experience at the high school level or college coaching/playing experience is essential. Head Varsity Coaching experience is highly desirableSUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Must advise, coordinate and support the staff of assistant coaches and student assistantsCERTIFICATES, LICENSES, OR REGISTRATIONS
CPR/First Aid Certification is desirable Additional Requirements To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents Must maintain confidentiality Possess experience in terms of knowledge, skills, and abilities in the designated sport Inform parents and student-athletes regarding NCAA clearinghouse registration deadlines and academic requirements, etc. Assist the Athletic Director in developing game schedules, practice schedules, facilities use, transportation needs, and the program budget Requisition supplies, materials, and equipment as needed Provide game results to the media; keep season and game-by-game statistics and records; provide statistical reports to the Athletic Director as needed and/or requested Provide statistical information, video, etc. to college recruiters upon request Request varsity awards and present at the awards banquet Stay abreast of students' academic eligibility and work with teachers and administration to help keep students eligible Assist the Athletic Director in selecting assistant coaches Apply discipline in a positive, firm, and consistent manner according to District policy Other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director/Assistant Athletic Director The employee will pass a criminal background investigation The employee shall remain free of any alcohol or non-prescribed controlled substance abuse in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the District Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, talk, and hear, and sometimes walk and sit. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally push or lift up to 50 pounds, such as boxes of books and AV/VCR carts. The employee is directly responsible for the safety, well-being, or work output of other people. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision such as to read handwritten or typed material, and the ability to adjust focus. This position requires the individual to meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the public and other staff.
