Job Description

Job Overview:
Assist the head coach during daily swim practices, provide feedback to athletes, attend swim meets, and foster a safe and supportive environment for young developing swimmers. With an emphasis on technique, provide instruction to all levels from pre-competition to high school.
Hourly rate:
$20 - 23 per hour pending experience
Responsibilities:
  • Offer competitive swimmers the opportunity to master technique
  • Run practice and attend swim meets as directed by the head coach
  • Provide technical instruction on stroke mechanics, starts, turns, and finishes across all four competitive strokes (including writing sets and leading practice)
  • Teach basic and advanced swim skills in a group lesson setting
  • Observe and evaluate swimmers during practices and meets, identifying areas for improvement
  • Provide correct technical feedback to athletes tailored to swimmer's skill level and goals
  • Communicate with head coach all necessary information from practices and competition
  • Create a positive, safe, and supportive environment that allows athletes to succeed
  • Instruct other coaches (including junior coaches) how to evaluate and teach swimmers proper technique
Qualifications/Skills:
  • Expertise in evidence-based training methodologies (strength, speed, endurance)
  • Reliable and available evenings; weekends and mornings during Summer Season
  • Excellent observational and communication skills
  • Ability to work well and communicate effectively with athletes of all ages/abilities
  • Experience using video analysis for stroke evaluation preferred
Education/Experience:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Competitive swimming (collegiate background preferred) and/or coaching experience
  • Current Lifeguard, First Aid & CPR certifications or willingness to complete training(s) within 6 months of hire.
Compensation for training/recertification available.
Pay:
$20.00 - $23.00 per hour
