Athletic Coordinator and Clawson High School Principal SALARY:
Employed through EduStaff•Appropriate placement on the 'Schedule B-1' of the CEA contractHOURS:
MHSAA Fall Season 2026 Position Summary To instruct athletes in the fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training necessary for them to succeed individually and as a team, while reinforcing the Student-Athlete Code of Conduct Minimum Qualifications Teaching certification and experience preferred Physical Education majors or minors preferred MHSAA CAP, First-Aid, and CPR certification, and sports medicine training preferred [Swimming Coaches•WSI Certification required] Coaching experience•varsity experience preferred Must have substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of the sport while continuing to examine new theories and procedures pertinent to this field Strong understanding of offensive strategies and skill development Ability to organize and supervise a total sports program (head coach) Promotes academics as the major priority Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills, with a focus on mentoring young athletes Communicates in a positive manner with athletes, coaching staff, parents, administrators, and community Shows competency in theory and techniques of coaching Is punctual and has good attendance Job Responsibilities Assists the head coach with daily operations, supervises student-athletes, and runs team meetings Plans and calls offensive plays and designs the playbook Analyzes opponents, designs weekly offensive game plans, and coordinates with the varsity staff to ensure alignment with the overall varsity philosophy Structures and leads offensive practice drills, manages game-day substitutions, and supervises position groups Mentors players on and off the field on technique, tactical understanding, and character growth, while promoting sportsmanship and academic excellence Leads daily practice sessions, instructing players on offensive fundamentals, techniques, and strategies Manages offensive substitutions, monitors player performance, and ensures team safety Aligns JV offensive strategies with the Varsity system and coordinates with the head coach Maintains equipment, monitors academic progress, and communicates with parents and administration Ensures the safety of players by following safety protocols, such as those related to concussions and heat safety, and having appropriate certifications (e.g., CPR) Focuses on building team chemistry and a positive culture that encourages players to work together on and off the field Key Physical Functions Prolonged standing, walking, and running on fields Ability to move around frequently during practice, and demonstrate high external energy Possess physical agility to handle and move equipment up to 50 pounds Ability to bend, to stoop, crouch, or kneel to assist with athlete instruction Ability to teach physical skills, proper lifting techniques for strength training, and football-specific stances or drills Ability to demonstrate techniques and positioning to specific players Ability to speak loudly and clearly over long distances to instruct players during practice or games Requires specific vision abilities, including close and distance vision and the ability to adjust focus to observe players' performance Ability to monitor players during practices, in the weight room, and during games, including reacting quickly to on-field injuriesTO APPLY
