Varsity Girls Cheerleading Head Coach Advanced Technology Academy - 4.0 Dearborn, MI Job Details Seasonal $24.10 - $29.02 an hour 4 hours ago Qualifications School experience Teamwork Team development Working with students Teaching Full Job Description Dearborn Advanced Technology Academy (ATA) Varsity High School Cheerleading Head Coach Position Overview Dearborn Advanced Technology Academy (ATA) is seeking an enthusiastic, experienced, and student-centered Varsity High School Cheerleading Head Coach to lead and develop our cheerleading program. The Head Coach will oversee all aspects of the Varsity and Junior Varsity Cheerleading Programs, supervise assistant coaches, and foster a culture of academic excellence, leadership, sportsmanship, school spirit, teamwork, discipline, and personal growth. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing a competitive and spirited cheerleading program that supports ATA Athletics while providing student-athletes with opportunities to excel both academically and athletically. Qualifications
  • Previous cheerleading coaching experience at the high school level or higher preferred.
  • Knowledge of Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA) rules and regulations regarding competitive cheer and sideline cheer.
  • Experience teaching cheerleading fundamentals, stunting, tumbling, jumps, choreography, safety procedures, and leadership development.
  • Experience working with students in an educational setting.
  • Current coaching certifications required by MHSAA and ATA, or ability to obtain prior to employment.
  • CPR, First Aid, and concussion training certification preferred. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Strong understanding of competitive and sideline cheerleading techniques, safety standards, conditioning methods, and athlete development.
  • Knowledge of stunt progression, choreography development, and competition preparation.
  • Excellent organizational, leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Ability to motivate student-athletes while fostering a positive, disciplined, and inclusive team culture.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with administrators, teachers, parents, athletic staff, and community stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and general computer applications.
  • Strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Commitment to ATA's mission of academic and athletic excellence. Responsibilities The Varsity High School Cheerleading Head Coach will:
  • Plan, organize, and direct all aspects of the Varsity and Junior Varsity Cheerleading Programs.
  • Develop and implement practice plans, conditioning programs, skill development sessions, choreography, and competition preparation.
  • Supervise, mentor, and evaluate assistant coaches while ensuring consistency throughout the cheerleading program.
  • Promote school spirit and provide leadership during athletic events, pep rallies, assemblies, and community activities.
  • Prepare teams for sideline cheer responsibilities and competitive cheer competitions when applicable.
  • Ensure all practices, stunts, routines, and conditioning activities are conducted safely and in accordance with MHSAA guidelines.
  • Promote sportsmanship, leadership, teamwork, accountability, and academic success among student-athletes.
  • Ensure all student-athletes maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA and meet ATA eligibility requirements.
  • Coordinate and oversee mandatory study tables for student-athletes after school and/or following practices.
  • Implement and monitor mandatory nutritional plans to support student-athlete health, wellness, and performance.
  • Communicate regularly with the Athletic Director, School Operations Manager, Principal, and parents regarding team operations and student-athlete development.
  • Maintain accurate attendance, academic, eligibility, and performance records.
  • Coordinate team scheduling, transportation requests, uniforms, equipment inventory, and program needs.
  • Organize and oversee clinics, camps, fundraising activities, and off-season development opportunities.
  • Represent ATA Athletics professionally at all school, athletic, and community events.
  • Attend athletic department meetings, school functions, and professional development opportunities.
  • Ensure compliance with all ATA, conference, district, and MHSAA rules and regulations. Work Schedule & Availability
  • Monday through Friday, approximately 3:30 PM - 8:00 PM during the cheer season.
  • Must be available after school dismissal for practices, games, competitions, study tables, and team activities.
  • Occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays required for athletic events, competitions, camps, fundraising activities, and community appearances.
  • Off-season responsibilities include program development, athlete conditioning, recruitment, fundraising, choreography planning, and summer camp coordination. Preferred Characteristics
