Cheerleading Coach ( Winter Season) Detroit Cristo Rey High School - 4.5 Detroit, MI Job Details Seasonal 1 day ago Qualifications CPR Certification First Aid Certification Full Job Description General Description The Cheerleading Coach is responsible for leading, organizing, and supervising the Detroit Cristo Rey Cheerleading Team during the winter athletic season. The coach will foster a positive, inclusive, and spirited environment that supports school pride while promoting sportsmanship, teamwork, and personal growth among all team members. Key Areas of Responsibility The key responsibilities are as follows, but not limited to: Plan, organize, and lead all cheer practices, performances, and game-day activities. Create and implement routines that promote school spirit and support athletic teams during home basketball games and select school events. Supervise student-athletes to ensure their safety and positive conduct at all times. Collaborate with the Athletic Director to schedule practices, coordinate uniforms, and manage program logistics. Model and instill values consistent with the Cristo Rey mission, emphasizing discipline, respect, and academic achievement. Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff regarding schedules, expectations, and team updates. Ensure compliance with school policies and
CHSL/MHSAA
regulations. Promote good sportsmanship and serve as a positive role model for student-athletes. Attend required coaches' meetings and complete all onboarding, HR, and safety training as assigned. Qualifications Prior experience in cheerleading (coaching or participation) preferred. Ability to teach and demonstrate cheer techniques, stunts, and routines safely. Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Must complete all required background checks, CPR/First Aid certification, and Virtus training (Archdiocese requirement). Commitment to upholding the mission and values of Detroit Cristo Rey High School. Schedule & Commitment Practices typically held after school hours (2-3 days per week). Attendance required at home basketball games and select school events. Season runs approximately from November through March. Compensation Stipend position based on experience and school policy.
