Employee Benefits FREE Family Membership & Discounted Access to Programs Flexible Scheduling Family-friendly Work Environment Employee Assistance Program & Retirement Plan General Function The Detroit SWIMS Swim Instructor shadows and assists with instruction and motivation for students in swimming classes. Education/Experience/Training/Certifications At minimum, some high school level education (over 16+ years of age) CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, Basic First Aid certification and Emergency Oxygen from Red Cross Obtains YMCA Swim Instructor certification or equivalent at first certification course offered by YMCA of Metropolitan Detroit after hire. Position Benefits $300 Signing Bonus! Free Training! Job Duties & Responsibilities Shadows and prepares swimming lessons according the YMCA guidelines Builds authentic relationships with students and parents Conveys information on aquatics programs and schedules as appropriate Maintains records as required and attends staff meetings and trainings Performs other assigned duties as directed by Supervisor Abilities & Skills Ability to instruct and observe participants in proper stroke techniques.
