CPR/First Aid Successful completion of all required online health/safety coursesMHSAA CAPS 1 & 2
Knowledge and background in the sport Experience in physical education, coaching, and sports medicine. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of students or employees of the district. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Exhibits qualities of leadership and organizational ability and reflect a spirit of cooperation in working with staff and school administration. Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory in a specific field. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, parents and the community. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.Duties and Responsibilities:
other duties may be assigned Assists Varsity program with all programs (K-12) school and community. Plans and administers staff responsibilities, general plans and scouting duties, if applicable. Maintains liaison and active participation with other community activities, i.e., recreation, little league. Supervise assistant and volunteer coaches Supervises students of particular program During season: Implements "Athletic Standards" as outlined in the Athletic Handbook. Provides "information for transportation, officials and game management. Assumes responsibility for constant care of equipment and facilities being used. Follows the procedure for initiating purchase orders. Assumes supervisory control over all phases of teams in the program. Organizes and schedules practice sessions on a regular basis with the ideal of developing. Applies discipline in a firm and positive manner as outlined by the Athletic Department. Sees that building regulations are understood and enforced. Emphasizes safety precautions and is aware of best training and injury procedures. Conducts herself/himself and the team in an ethical manner during practice and contest. Reports a summary of all contests and provides any publicity information that would aid the program or athletes. Instructs his/her players concerning rules and role changes, new knowledge and innovative ideas and techniques. Maintains regular communication with parents.End of season:
Arranges for the systematic return of all school equipment. Arranges for the issuance of awards. Arranges for cleaning, sorting and inventory of all equipment. Concerned with the care and maintenance of the facility by making recommendations concerning additions and improvements. Recommends equipment needed to be purchased or repaired. Maintains records of team and individual accomplishments.Physical Demands:
