Job Description

Freshman Boys Basketball Coach -
Swartz Creek High School Summary:
Swartz Creek High School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Freshman Boys Basketball Coach to lead and develop the freshman basketball program. The ideal candidate will focus on teaching fundamental basketball skills, fostering sportsmanship, and helping student-athletes grow both on and off the court. This position plays a vital role in building a strong foundation for the future success of the basketball program.
Minimum Qualifications:
Strong understanding of basketball fundamentals, rules, and game strategies Ability to build positive relationships with student-athletes Strong communication and leadership skills Availability for practices, games, tournaments, and team-related travel Current CPR/AED certification or willingness to obtain
MHSAA CAP
1 or 2 certification (preferred) Previous coaching and/or competitive basketball experience (preferred)
Key Responsibilities:
Plan and conduct practices focused on skill development, teamwork, and game preparation Teach fundamental basketball techniques and promote continuous improvement Foster a positive, inclusive, and competitive team culture Ensure the safety and well-being of student-athletes during all team activities Uphold and enforce school, district, league, and MHSAA rules and policies Promote sportsmanship, discipline, academic accountability, and personal responsibility Communicate effectively and professionally with athletes, families, officials, and school staff Collaborate with the varsity and junior varsity coaching staff to align program goals and expectations Serve as a positive role model in conduct, language, and professionalism
