Intercollegiate Athletics Campus Location:
Main Campus General Summary Recruit, counsel and coach all student-athletes participating in the specific varsity sport program. Principal Duties and Responsibilities Adhere to any and all NCAA, Mid-American Conference and Eastern Michigan University policies, rules, regulations, and operational procedures. Organize and direct all activities of a varsity sport. Counsel and advise student-athletes with academic or personal problems. Direct the recruitment of prospective high school student-athletes to Eastern Michigan University. Supervise assistant or graduate assistant coach, if applicable. Assist in the scheduling of athletic contests. Determine the amount and quality of equipment and supplies to be ordered. Monitor all expenditures associated with varsity team budget. Perform various community services and functions such as clinic and speaking engagements. Perform fundraising activities. Instruct varsity credit classes, as assigned by the Department. Perform related departmental duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree is required. Previous player experience in the assigned sport at the college level is necessary. One year previous experience instructing and/or coaching in the assigned sport is necessary. Knowledge of NCAA policies is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous recruitment, scheduling, training, and sports fund raising experience is desirable.
