Varies; includes early mornings, evenings, and weekends About MacStrength MN MacStrength MN is a premier athletic performance facility serving athletes and individuals of all ages and skill levels. In addition to year-round training memberships, we operate the Grizzlies Baseball and Grizzlies Softball travel programs, and offer camps, clinics, private lessons, and recruiting advisory services. We are growing and looking for a motivated and purpose-driven coach to join our team. The right candidate will have the opportunity to help shape the future of the strength department and grow with the company as it scales. Position Summary The Strength & Conditioning Coach is responsible for delivering high-quality, individualized and group training sessions to athletes and general fitness clients. This role also plays a key part in building valued relationships with members, supporting client retention, and delivering on business growth strategies. The ideal candidate will have a great balance of technical and interpersonal skills, with a deep understanding of sports sciences that will translate into improved outcomes for athletes and members. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Coaching & Programming Design and deliver safe, effective strength and conditioning programs for athletes (youth through adults) Provide coaching and lead group training sessions, small-group classes, and one-on-one private coaching Conduct movement assessments, set training goals, track client progress, and measure performance progress Ability to modify and adapt exercises and programs to accommodate individual needs, injury history, and varying skill levels Maintain high standards and provide a clean, organized, and safe training environment Benchmark externally and stay current on strength and conditioning research, techniques, and best practices Provide Nutrition advising and coaching, including macronutrient profiling, weight gain/loss approaches , and progress checks Other duties as assigned: Such as: Coaching and designing baseball/softball skill development sessions, including, but not limited to, pitching, hitting, and/or fielding, depending on individual background and experience. Collaborate across departments and internal stakeholders to ensure training programs meet MacStrength's holistic approach Client Retention & Membership Growth Build valued relationships with members to support long-term retention and client satisfaction Proactively follow up with clients who miss sessions or show signs of disengagement Educate prospective members about training programs, membership options, and facility offerings during tours and consultations Support the conversion of one-time purchasers (camp attendees, day-pass users, clinic participants) into ongoing members Advise and assist with onboarding new members to ensure a positive experience Help promote and cross-sell facility programs, including Grizzlies team seasons, camps, clinics, and special events Administrative & Team Maintain accurate records of client attendance, programming, and progress notes Participate in team meetings, professional development, and facility events Contribute ideas and feedback to improve training programs and client experience Perform other duties as assigned that are consistent with the role Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Sports Science, or a closely related field — OR — equivalent combination of education and professional experience Current nationally recognized certification in strength and conditioning (e.g., CSCS, NSCA-CPT, ACSM, NASM, or equivalent) - OR - willing and able to acquire certification within the first 60 days of employment Current CPR/AED certification (or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire) Minimum of 1 year of hands-on coaching or personal training experience Demonstrated knowledge of exercise programming, anatomy, and injury prevention fundamentals Demonstrated high-level interpersonal and communication skills Ability to work a flexible schedule including early mornings, evenings, and weekends Must be legally authorized to work in the United States Experience coaching and/or playing Baseball/Softball Experience coaching athletes under the ages of 18 Proficiency with Google Suite tools, including Google Docs, Google Sheets, Gmail, etc. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel Preferred Qualifications Experience with membership sales, client retention strategies, or client relationship management CSCS (Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist) credential from the NSCA Familiarity with CRM tools 5+ years of field experience in a similar role Experience playing competitive athletics at a high level (collegiate or above) Deep knowledge of motor learning and skill acquisition science, including Ecological Dynamics and CLA Experience designing and executing return to play and rehab programming Familiarity with sports science tools, including, but not limited to: VALD, OVR, Force Plates, etc. Familiarity with data visualization and database management tools: Proficiency with Tableau, Looker Studio, Supabase, or similar. Proficiency using app-based programming tools such as Exercise.com or Teambuildr Experience managing a department budget Physical Requirements This role requires regular physical activity throughout the workday, including: Standing and moving for extended periods (up to 8+ hours per shift) Demonstrating exercises and spotting clients during lifts Lifting, carrying, and moving equipment weighing up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 75+ pounds occasionally Bending, kneeling, squatting, and reaching throughout the day Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this position. The environment includes exposure to loud music, athletic equipment, and physically active clients.
