Assistant Coach University of Minnesota - 4.1 Minneapolis, MN Job Details Full-time 10 hours ago Qualifications Sports team experience Driver's License Bachelor's degree Sports Colleges/universities Full Job Description Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree 2 years of experience coaching college student-athletes. One year of experience may be substituted for playing on a professional tour (LPGA, Epson Tour, LPGA of Korea Tour, Sunshine Ladies Tour, Ladies European Ladies Tour, etc.) Valid driver's license Preferred Qualifications 3-5 years of experience coaching college student-athletes, with a minimum of 2 years at the Division I level. One year of experience may be substituted for playing on a professional tour (LPGA, Epson Tour, LPGA of Korea Tour, Sunshine Ladies Tour, Ladies European Ladies Tour, etc.) The Assistant Coach will work with the Head Coach for Women's Golf in all aspects of team practices, training and evaluation of student-athletes. Work compatibly and cooperatively with the staff and personnel of the Athletics Department. Help assist in the development of all phases for the student-athletes. Assist in advancing the department's mission, vision, and strategic plan including its commitment to equity and diversity. This position requires employees to work nights, weekends and some holidays. Essential Functions 40% of time Assist in planning, organizing and implementation of daily practices, game strategies and tactics, for both team and individual practices. Teach & Coach the student-athletes on a daily basis. Assist head in identifying golf course(s) in the Twin Cities to play at upcoming practice sessions -at times, a golf course that closely resembles the upcoming tournament golf course. At the direction of the head coach, work to set up team travel for away-from-home competitions (flights, hotels, meals, pay entry fee, etc.). At the direction of the head coach, work to establish, organize and execute a minimum of two spring training trips that prepare the student-athletes for the spring golf season (flights, housing, meals, golf course access, etc.). 20% of time Assist in identification, evaluation, and recruitment of student-athletes. Assist in all phases of the recruiting process. Proactively identify prospects for the Head Coach to evaluate. Travel to observe high potential prospective student-athletes. Provide positive experience/interaction for both prospective athletes and their families during the evaluation process, home visit, unofficial and/or official campus visit. Take the lead on setting up the official campus visit for the prospect and her family/legal guardians (flight, hotel, meals, meetings, etc.). 20% of time Work closely with support staff (athletic medicine, sport performance, equipment, communication, academics) regarding student-athletes. Ensure student academic success by monitoring tutor and academic advisor schedules. Keep student athletes and parents updated and informed on program info and travel plans. Ensure appropriate Nike apparel and equipment is identified and ordered through the equipment manager for the following year. Fill in orders for the current season where shortages have occurred and fill ins are needed (golf shoes, gloves, golf balls, etc. ). Keep compliance logs up to date 10% of time Assist student athlete skill development in pre-season and postseason. Coordinative off-season coaching and training, but physical and mental training. Keep up to date with technology in Mooty Golf Center 10% of time Assist with community outreach, public relations, and promotional activities as necessary. Coordinate all aspects of home hosted events - food/beverage, volunteers, scoreboard, marketing/communication, Golf Stat. Assist the head coach with Donor relations, fundraising and summer camps/clinics.
