Hiring Department UMKC's Kansas City Athletics•Women's Volleyball Job Description This position will assist the Kansas City Athletics Volleyball Head Coach with direction and administrative oversight of the intercollegiate volleyball program relative to successful athletic performance, recruitment and retention of student-athletes and providing the necessary leadership for a positive competitive environment for student athletes. Duties and Responsibitlies include, but are not limited to:
Possesses a philosophy of coaching and education that fits the UMKC and Kansas City Athletics mission and vision
Ability to interact and represent UMKC well with a diverse constituency of students, faculty, alumni and media
Provides leadership and guidance necessary for positive, competitive environment
Assists in the design and structure of all practice activity
Aids in the strategic planning for individual player development
Prepares scouting reports and coordinates its dissemination to the team
Assist in all facets of team travel
Assists in ordering, screening and distribution of equipment
Assists with compliance logs and relevant document with respect to NCAA and Summit League rules
Assist in tape exchange and online upload/downloads during season
Meets with Academic Advisors to assure eligibility of student athletes and assists in monitoring progress of athletes
Assists in initial contact and communication with targeted athletes
Evaluates prospective student athletes and their prospective fit with UMKC
Fosters strong relationships with local coaches
Works with Business Manager to ensure fiscal responsibility, travel, recruiting, etc. are in line with appropriate funds allotted
Responsible for the assurance that all assigned activities are operated in compliance with all applicable rules and regulations of institutional, conference and national athletic/sports programs associations such as NCAA, SEC, NAIA, etc.
Minimum Qualifications A Bachelor's degree in related/relevant area or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 3 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary Preferred Qualifications Demonstrate extensive experience working in collegiate or professional volleyball in all areas. Must be able to follow the requirements of the NCAA, the Summit League and the mission of UMKC. Must be able to communicate effectively and foster positive relations with prospective and enrolled student-athletes, fellow coaches, Athletics staff and university administration and the general public; and have a clear understanding of the role of athletics within the university and Kansas City community. Anticipated Hiring Range The anticipated hiring range for this position has been established as starting at $50,000 annually. Salary is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to, the individual's particular combination of education, skills, and experience, as well as organizational requirements.
