Title:

MS Assistant Cheerleading Coach Reports to: Athletic Director / Building Principal The MS Assistant Coach is responsible for assisting the Head Coach in all aspects of the cheerleading program. The coach must demonstrate strong leadership in player development, sportsmanship, integrity and character development. Qualified candidates should possess strong communication and organizational skills. They must demonstrate exceptional knowledge of the skills and strategies of the sport of basketball as it pertains to interscholastic athletics in Missouri Responsibilities Emphasize the importance of academic excellence and assist in monitoring and maintaining high academic standards for members of the cheerleading program. Promote the program within the school and community. Work cooperatively with other coaches in order to operate a well-balanced athletic program. Assist the head coach to ensure that all athletes have valid medical examinations and other required qualifications before they are allowed to practice. Engage with the parents of the members of the cheerleading program in a positive and constructive manner. Develop a relationship with the local youth cheerleading program and establish a presence with youth cheerleaders via camps and clinics. Perform other duties related to the position of assistant athletic coach as requested by the high school principal and/or athletic director. Complete all required trainings set forth by MSHSAA and South Callaway RII. Typical Duties Establishes standards of conduct and administers them in a fair, equitable and consistent manner. Monitors and assesses athletic progress and adjusts student instructions accordingly. Creates an environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the student athletes. Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect student athletes, equipment, materials and facilities. Assists the administration in implementing all policies and rules. Encourages student athletes to set and maintain high standards of behavior on the field or off. Maintains accurate, complete and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulations.
