Posting Details Position Information Position Title Sports Performance Coach Job Description Missouri Western State University invites applications for the position of Sports Performance Coach . The successful candidate will provide comprehensive sports performance programs with the goal of improving sports performance and mitigating injury potential for all athletic teams, as specified by the Director of Sports Performance. Located in St. Joseph, Missouri, just 45 minutes north of Kansas City, Missouri Western is an NCAA Division II institution, which successfully competes in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association ( MIAA ) in 16 sports and Great Lakes Valley Conference ( GLVC ) in 1 sport.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
: Assists director of sports performance in the development of athletic performance training programs for assigned teams Implements appropriate training programs for student-athletes regardless of their skill-level and/or training experience Monitors correct exercise technique at all times Keeps record of important key performance indicators to track student-athlete development over time Collaborates with sports medicine team on return to play protocols of injured student-athletes Reports to head sport coaches about student-athletes performance and rate of progress Demonstrates effective communication skills to establish positive relationships with student-athletes, coaches, and administrators Assists with oversight of interns and part-time positions in sports performance Oversees athletic performance operations assigned by director of sports performance Other duties as assignedEssential Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of scientific best practices in strength and conditioning Knowledge of successful rehabilitation processes of injured student-athletes Knowledge of proper nutrition practices and ability to educate student-athletes within the scope of a strength and conditioning professional Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations Ability to coach student-athletes Ability to develop relationships with players, coaches, sports medicine, and administration Ability to recognize potential health risks of student-athletes Ability to adapt and adjust to circumstances Ability to effectively organize and prioritize work as well as concentrate on multiple tasks simultaneously Ability to supervise and manage staff Knowledge of VBT, GPS, and heart rate monitoring systems Organized and adaptable in a highly demanding environment Organized thinker with exceptional attention to detail Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing Proficient in Microsoft Office programs and other general office equipment Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in exercise science/kinesiology or related degree 1-2 years experience in a collegiate training environment or the equivalent Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist ( CSCS ) certification through the National Strength and Conditioning Association or the Strength and Conditioning Coach Certified ( SCCC ) certification through the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association CPR /First Aid certification A valid driver's license Preferred Qualifications Master's degree in exercise science/kinesiology or related degree Physical Demands Generally works in an office or an indoor or outdoor sports environment. May be exposed to the loud noise of an audience at games. May be exposed to inclement weather conditions and extreme temperatures Position requires heavy physical activity, and the ability to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds frequently, and up to 20 pounds constantly to move objects. Must be able to be on feet multiple hours during the day on a multitude of different surfaces Regularly required to talk and hear; frequently required to sit, stand, and bend at the knee and waist, and walk. Must have finger dexterity and hand-eye coordination to work on computer, telephone, and related office equipment. FLSA Exempt Additional Demands Team travel as assigned by director Regular early mornings, nights and occasional weekends Required travel nights and/or weekends.
