About the Instructional Coach Position
Reporting directly to the school Principal and working collaboratively with members of the Office of Teaching and Learning, Instructional Coaches provide teachers with ongoing, job-embedded professional development that addresses their needs and is aligned to state standards, curricula, and assessments. The overall goal is to improve student achievement by building teacher capacity and bringing evidence-based practices into the classroom.
The Instructional Coach is responsible for:
Instructional Leadership (approximately 85%)
Working with school leaders to design and provide professional development focused on improving alignment and delivery of the written, taught, and assessed curriculum to increase student success and close performance gaps
Working with teachers and leaders to collect and analyze student data, diagnose instructional, management, and/or culture needs, and identify evidence-based strategies to improve student achievement
Providing job-embedded professional development for teachers that includes: modeling lessons, co-teaching, collaborative planning, individual and group coaching, and observations and/or walk-throughs
Providing feedback around instruction, classroom management, and/or classroom culture that facilitates teacher reflection and growth
Assisting teachers with resources, materials, tools, and information to support planning, as well as classroom instruction, management, and culture
Providing campus-level professional development for district initiatives
Administrative functions (approximately 15%)
Developing and maintaining a coaching and support schedule that maximizes teacher availability
Assisting in the collection and analysis of campus data
Developing and monitoring coaching plans for teachers
Responding in a timely fashion to any pertinent data requests and submitting coaching logs in a timely manner
Serving as a member of the school's Leadership Team
Attending district level training and meetings
Participating in district committees, as appropriate
Performing other related duties as requested or assigned

Have thorough knowledge of and experience with effective management, instruction and assessment strategies for all learners

Have a proven ability to work cooperatively and effectively with colleagues, including the ability to create and nurture a professional community of adult learners and give and receive feedback
Demonstrate critical thinking skills and the ability to analyze data, identify trends, and diagnose root causes
Model continuous improvement, a commitment to lifelong learning, and the application of new learning to help all students achieve
Required Training & Experience
Minimum five years successful teaching experience
Minimum one year school/teacher leadership experience
Experience in the development, preparation, and presentation of professional development; familiarity with the tenets of adult learning
Required Licensure/Certification
Master's degree
Current state certifications with appropriate licenses
