Job Description

Kimball Union Academy, a premier independent boarding and day school located in scenic Meriden, is seeking an energetic, knowledgeable, and student-centered Strength & Conditioning Coach to join our vibrant athletics program. This is a part-time, stipend position. The Strength & Conditioning Coach will play a vital role in supporting the physical development, performance, wellness, and injury-prevention efforts of our student-athletes across multiple sports programs. This individual will work closely with coaches, athletic trainers, and student-athletes to design and implement safe, effective, and age-appropriate training programs that promote athletic excellence and lifelong fitness habits. This is an exciting opportunity to help shape the culture of performance, leadership, and character development within the KUA athletic community.
ABOUT THE POSITION
Responsibilities Include:
Design and lead strength, speed, agility, mobility, and conditioning programs for student-athletes Supervise and instruct safe weight room and training techniques Collaborate with varsity and junior varsity coaching staffs throughout the academic year Teach a total of 4-5 strength and conditioning classes throughout the academic year Support injury prevention and return-to-play programming in collaboration with athletic trainers Foster a positive, motivating, and inclusive training environment Monitor student-athlete progress and encourage accountability, discipline, and sportsmanship Assist with maintaining strength and conditioning equipment and facilities
QUALIFICATIONS
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience coaching or training high school, collegiate, or elite athletes Strong understanding of exercise science, athletic performance, and injury prevention Excellent communication and leadership skills Ability to motivate and mentor student-athletes from a wide range of grounds
Required Qualifications:
Valid driver's license Successful completion of a ground check Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification One or more nationally recognized strength and conditioning certifications preferred, including: NSCA Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) NSCA Certified Personal Trainer (NSCA-CPT) USA Weightlifting Level 1 Certification CSCCA Strength and Conditioning Coach Certified (SCCC) NASM Performance Enhancement Specialization (PES) A bachelor's degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Sports Performance, or a related field is strongly preferred.
