District LEAP Academy University Charter School is seeking a highly qualified Head Coach -Softball Varsity to partner with the Athletic Director (AD) to assist athletes in their skill development and ensure peak performance and fitness are achieved during competitions, tournaments, matches, trials, and all qualifying events. The Coach will provide insight on play strategies for difficult moves and goals. This position will provide leadership to the team, implementing, and maintaining a quality recruiting strategy. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Administrative Responsible for recruiting a strong, high quality team; maintaining the minimum of 15 per sport. Responsible for scheduling all athletes for their sports physicals with the Wellness Clinic; Plan/Propose a minimum of three (3) fundraisers to help with necessary team purchases; Arranges for transportation to various sporting engagements; Partner with Student Management Team to get weekly updates on student's grades and any disciplinary actions to ensure eligibility to play; Develop team practice schedule, sharing it with Principals and Office Managers to ensure district-wide knowledge; Responsible for documents an injuries and seeking medical attention when necessary; Responsible for planning and prepping "Senior Night" Home Game. Coaching Effectively communicate the rules and procedures of the sport; Motivate and provide direction to athletes on self-development in preparation of having the advantage over competitors; Plan and implement fitness conditioning training schedule; Advise and counsel athletes on nutrition, health, safety and use of sports equipment; Assess, evaluate, and maintain a log of athletes' performance during practices and drills; Promote a teambuilding spiriting to support success gains in events; Monitoring athletes' attendance, participation, and behavior at all times; Communication Continual and timely communication with families utilizing "Remind Me" app - ensuring it is updated; Plan Parent Meetings three (3) during the season (beginning, midway, and at the end); Maintaining constant communication with Athletic Director, Lead Person, and Principals Salary & Benefits Contracted Seasonal Stipend Not benefits eligible Education & Qualifications Bachelor's degree required; New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association (NJSIAA) Certified; CPR & First Aid Certified; Proven track record of successful leadership and team progression; Knowledgeable on the latest development and innovative training methods and techniques; Must be available for all games.
